Ken helped kill the Buddleja’s at Little Myles.  The garden is open to the public in aid of charity.  He was visiting the garden to interview Judy Cowan about her cosmetic business about this time of the year in fact, and to look at the garden which is where many of the ingredients come from.  On passing the Buddlejas Ken remarked “I cut them down to about six inches at this time of the year and they just shoot up again”.  On a visit the next summer Judy walked the garden with Ken for another interview this time about Marigold production.  On passing the said Buddlejas Judy pointed out that they were dead.  Why?  She pruned them as Ken had suggested!  So go easy on the pruning and remember, don’t change your gardening methods even if an expert tells you!
